FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
The Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul helps us to remember the Churchs foundation and mission. Peters profession of faith made him the rock on which the Church would be built and his office as shepherd would guide the Church. Pauls zeal and apostolic labor helped bring the gospel message to the ends of the earth. May we learn to imitate their steadfastness in caring for others and sharing the good news of Jesus.
It was the Lord who gave Peter and Paul the strength to share the good news in spite of their sufferings. They were confident that the Lord would deliver them from every evil. May we too rejoice in Gods protection and care as we boldly confess his love for us in Jesus.
Ask yourselfAm I able to confess my belief in who Jesus is before others? Am I confident in Gods protection for me and for the Church even in the face of suffering and trials? Do I appreciate the importance of the Churchs ministry of teaching with authority through the bishops who succeed the apostles?
Finally I encourage you to look for opportunities to share your faith in Jesus with others this week, particularly since families and friends traditionally get together for Independence Day.
Your brother in Christ,
Fr. Jamie

TO BE THE ROCK FOR OUR CHILDREN
In todays Gospel reading, Jesus named Peter as the "Rock" the foundation of the earthly Church. To help Peter in this awesome and sometimes daunting task, Jesus sent His Holy Spirit as a guide and a helper. The task of forming our children in faith is no less awesome and daunting to most of us than what Peter faced. Yet, our children depend upon us. They call us to be their rock on which they build their trust in other people, their hope, and certainly their faith in God's promises. How can you respond to the needs of our children? Our parish community calls you, the parents of our PSR children, the parents of our day school children, older adults and young adults to share your faith in our Parish School of Religion. There is a great need for teachers, aides and volunteers. Be assured that you will not be alone in your ministry. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to us; we are only asked to plant the seeds of faith. God will nurture the seeds we plant and bring them to the harvest. Please call Diana McCormick (216) 475-3455 (X 24) if you want to learn more about the PSR program and how you can help.

HEALING HUMOR
A young farmer attended a dance. He tried to make conversation with his attractive companion. Smiling, he said, "You look like Helen Brown."
She nodded her head, "Yes, I know," was her reply. "I dont look so good in yellow either."
(from KEEP EM LAUGHIN, 1987)
We have no idea how Peter or Paul looked, other than the fact that they were of Jewish origin. We do have a great idea of how they witnessed to the truth of Jesus and of how boldly they proclaimed his gospel message.
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
Peter and Paul were apostles called and sent by God to establish churches that would follow Jesus and change the world with the Gospel. In a similar way, each Christian family is a church, the "church of the home" and is the most basic way the Lord gathers us, forms us and acts in the world. The future of the world and of the Church passes by way of the family. Pope John Paul II
Teach Me, Lord, What You Want Me to Do,
and I Will Obey You Faithfully
Psalm 86.
