Vocations
"We must run and do now what will profit us forever." (St. Benedict) Any baptized Catholic man, between 18 and 45 years of age, with good health, average intelligence, and sincere religious faith, and the desire to seek God in community may have a vocation to our monastery. For more serious discernment, vocation candidates are encouraged to attend our Living with Benedict weekend retreats. Formation Timeline Candidacy: Year of discernment under the vocation director with visits to the monastery over the course of the year; with a process of prayer, reading, reflection and dialogue. Postulancy: Six months living within the monastery; knowledge and formation in God’s call and conversion. Novitiate: Canonical year: consisting of training in monastic spirituality and the Rule. Simple Vows: Three year dedication to the monastic way of life. Solemn Vows: Life long consecration to God as a monk. |
