SHOP & GIVE FAIR TRADE ITEMS…  the gift that makes a difference!

 

Fair Trade Organizations, Local Stores and On-line Resources:

 

   • CRS Fair Trade & Coffee Project – a “just” cup of gourmet coffee!  (via CRS)

        Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade Coffee Program is a new partnership with Equal

        Exchange fair trade coffee, tea & cocoa with a portion of proceeds benefiting the work of

        CRS around the world.

 

   • Work of Human Hands – fundraising that makes a difference! (via CRS)

        This parish/school fundraising program of CRS & SERRV International reaches out to

        low-income people around the world that are part of local cooperatives. Work of Human

        Hands pays workers a fair price in advance for their products. The sale of these handmade

        items (from 40+ countries) provides dignity, hope & income to the poor around the globe.

 

   • Divine Chocolate  (Fair-trade, child labor-free certified chocolate… with a great taste!)

        Divine Chocolate is a nonprofit alternative trade group & a SERRV International partner.

        Can be used as a fair trade school/youth group fundraiser & to spread the word about the

        many benefits of Fair Trade AND to also directly benefit low-income farmers in Ghana!

 

   • Equal Exchange  (Fair Trade church coffee OR fundraising for youth group/school!)

        Serve fair trade coffee – or host a Fair Trade Fundraiser at church/school!  Equal Exchange

        promotes fair trade, sweatshop-free/child labor-free coffee, tea & cocoa purchased directly

        from worker co-ops in developing countries offering greater dignity & fair wages (at double

        the open market).

 

   • Esperanza Threads  (Locally-made fair trade & organic-cotton quality clothing!)

        Located at 1160 Broadway Ave., Bedford, OH, (ph: 440-786-9009).  Esperanza Threads is

        a worker-owned clothing cooperative producing and selling non-sweatshop, organic cotton

        clothing and other apparel.

 

   • Global Exchange  (Excellent on-line fair trade shopping!)

        Global Exchange is a human rights organization seeking to build global awareness and

        international partnerships.  Offers an excellent on-line fair trade shopping & gift catalog!

 

   • Heartbeats (International fair trade items – operated by Sisters of Humility of Mary)

        Heartbeats supports developing-world women artisans become economically self-sufficient

        through the purchase of stationery products, jewelry, cards, artwork and other beautiful gift

        items from countries around the world.  Call 1-800-808-1991 or 440-356-8601 for information.

 

   • Heifer International  (Providing global families self-sufficiency through farm animals)

        Sponsor the purchase of Heifer animals (&training to care for them) to offer hungry families

        around the world a way to become self-reliant. Children receive better nutrition; families earn

        income to meet vital needs; communities can fulfill dreams; and farmers learn sustainable,

        environmentally sound agricultural techniques.

 

   • SERRV International  (Excellent on-line fair trade shopping!)

        SERRV is a nonprofit alternative trade organization promoting social & economic justice for

        people in developing regions of the world by marketing their handcrafts and food products in

        a just and direct manner.  Offers an excellent on-line fair trade shopping & gift catalog!

 

   • Ten Thousand Villages  (Local fair trade stores providing for your gift-shopping needs!)

        Ten Thousand Villages provides fair income to Third World people by marketing their crafts

        and telling their stories at local fair trade stores in North America. Ten Thousand Villages

        works with artisans who would otherwise be un/under-employed. This income helps pay

        for food, education, health care and housing.
