Partnering Parishes:

Annunciation, Akron

     •  Ghana & Nigeria – Help with a library project in Ghana; will soon host a student priest from

        Nigeria for 4 years.

 

Annunciation, Cleveland

     •  Haiti – Partnering with St. Philomene in Cap Hatien, Haiti (5 yrs.); remember on first

        weekend of each month in song & prayers and free-will offering; send monthly check;

        materials and delegation are pending for October.

 

Assumption, Broadview Heights

     •  Haiti – Partnering with St. Anne’s Parish in Thomazeaw, Haiti; visited in Feb., 2001; second

        visit in August, 2001; assisted in construction of Parish Activity Center; planning a water

        purification project.

 

Gesu, University Heights

     •  Honduras – Partnering with Nuevo Paraiso, Honduras; Nuevo Paraiso is a Catholic community

        development project for single mothers and their children &  provides housing for children

        with HIV/AIDS; provide financial support and make 3 trips per year with at least 30

        parishioners to assist in building and medical projects.

 

Holy Name, Cleveland

     •  El Salvador – Co-hosted June 2003 parish solidarity trip to COAR Peace Mission & Children’s Village

        in El Salvador with Church in the City parish partner St. Mary of the Falls, Olmsted Falls. (see article)

 

Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain

     •  El Salvador – Partnering with the Diocesan Mission Team in El Salvador; send money and

        parishioners to work on projects.

 

St. Anthony of Padua, Fairport Harbor

     •  India – Partnering with Sacred Heart Shrine Alanthala, Tuticorin District, southern India; have

        Advent & Lenten collection envelopes to support the church; helped build a small school there.

 

St. Basil the Great, Brecksville

     •  Honduras – Partnering with the Diocese of Joticalpa, Honduras; sent a Medical Mission Team

        in 2001,to work in a clinic and explore other opportunities to be of service in the diocese.

 

St. Bede the Venerable, Mentor

     •  El Salvador – Parish tithes 3% of monthly income to use for needs outside of the U.S.; have

        assisted COAR Peace Mission, earthquake victims in India and El Salvador.

 

St. Cecilia & Ephiphany Parishes, Cleveland

     •  El Salvador – Partnering with Kenyan clergy to assist with AIDS Ministry in Kenya; also assist

        with El Salvador & COAR Peace Mission & Children’s Village.

 

St. Felicitas, Euclid

     •  El Salvador – Partnering with community of Chinampa & Our Lady of Lourdes Parish; raised

        $35,000 to build a community cultural arts/family center & develop marketable local artwork.

 

St. Francis de Sales, Akron

     •  Chile – Twinning Partner with St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Chile

 

St. Francis of Assisi, Gates Mills

     •  Mozambique – Partnering with Our Lady of Grace in Maputo, Mozambique; have raised

        $22,000 to assist school in building lavatories; parishioners have visited.

 

St. Jude, Elyria

     •  El Salvador – Partnering with Mission Team in El Salvador; send money and exchange

        letters on what’s happening.

 

St. Louis, Cleveland Heights

     •  El Salvador – Have contact with Diocesan Mission Team in El Salvador; sell Salvadoran crafts

        from COAR; sell EE coffee and send profits to Mission Office for Salvadoran earthquake relief;

        collected clothing and eyeglasses.

 

St. Mary of the Falls School, Olmsted Falls

     •  El Salvador – Hosted June 2003 parish solidarity trip to COAR Peace Mission & Children’s Village

        in El Salvador with Church in the City parish partner Holy Name, Cleveland; part of Lenten collection

        goes to COAR Peace Mission & Children’s Village.  (see article)

 

St. Peter, Lorain

     •  El Salvador – School children raise money to help Salvadoran children through the Diocesan

        Mission in El Salvador.

 

St. Peter, Loudonville

     •  Guatemala – Guatemalan immigrants living in rural Ohio are partnering with their parish,

        La Parroquia de Azuacatan in Huehuetenango, Guatemala; sent money to build their church;

        church in Guatemala has sent videos of progress; parish leaders are working on a grant to

        link Kent State University and UMOAR

 

St. Peter the Apostle, Brook Park

     •  Gambia – Hosted missionary from Gambia, West Africa in summer of 2000; shipped clothing &

        religious articles to his parish.

 

St. Vincent Parish, Akron

     •  Mozambique – help a parish in Chimoio Diocese, Mozambique

     •  India – help a parish in India; provide financial assistance for specific needs.

 

St. Vincent de Paul, Cleveland

     •  Tanzania – partnering with Church of Lohouro in the Diocese of Njombe, Tanzania; have

        supported them in their building and hosted the pastor for Mission Appeals.

 

St. Vincent de Paul, Lorain

     •  El Salvador – partners with St. Thomas Parish in Tejutla; the parish & parish school have

        helped rebuild the St. Thomas parish church building, raised funds for medicines and promote

        coffees and goods produced in Tejutla for sale in the U.S. for economic development there.
