Partnering Schools:

(Responses from Survey on Partnerships outside the U.S.)

 

Elementary Schools:

 

St. Mary of the Falls School, Olmsted Falls

     •  Zimbabwe – Magama Primary School in Tohotsho, Zimbabwe; exchange letters

        and pictures; send school supplies and funds.

     •  India – Notre Dame India Missions; sponsor 10 children at ND school in India; have

        educational programs for students here to learn about India.

     •  El Salvador – Part of Lenten collection goes to COAR.

 

St. Peter School, North Ridgeville

     •  India – Will be partnering with a school operated by Sisters of Notre Dame;

        financial and prayer support.

 

SS. Peter & Paul, Garfield Heights

     •  Peru – provide financial support to the Sisters’ mission in Peru

 

St. Rocco School, Cleveland

     •  Madagascar – Our Lady of the Rosary (Sisters of Most Holy Trinity); exchange

         letters, video, art work; study Madagascar in classes; have fundraisers to support

         school.

     •  India – Collect items and money for Mercedarian house; write letters; had

        presentation from visiting priest.

 

St. Vincent de Paul, Elyria

     •  El Salvador – St. Thomas More Parish in Tehutla, El Salvador; have visited back

        and forth several times; provide funding; will be sending a new ambulance,

        medicines, etc.

 

High Schools:

 

Elyria Catholic High School, Lorain County

     •  Uganda – Have hosted Archbishop John Baptist Odama of the Gulu Archdiocese in

        Northern Uganda; “Students for Uganda & Darfur” student group have begun a pen pal

        partnership with at Sacred Heart Secondary School students in Gulu who live amidst

        the 20-year rebel conflict with widespread child abductions & child soldiering.

 

Magnificat High School, Rocky River

     •  Ecuador – Involved in summer immersion experience with Rostro de Cristo which

        includes connection to Nuevo Mundo School in Duran, Ecuador; 6 students per

        summer visit Duran; hosted student from Nuevo Mundo for 6 weeks last year during

        second semester and plan to repeat this year.

 

Padua Franciscan High School, Parma

     •  Honduras – Took a summer immersion trip to Honduras with 7 students/2 teachers

        to stay at the Franciscan Mission "Mission Honduras"; did work projects; spent time

        with the children at the mission; participated in the daily community/prayer life of other

        missionaries; explored the living conditions & poverty issues in order to plan other

        relationship-building opportunities for solidarity.  Plan to repeat this trip next summer.

 

Trinity High School, Garfield Heights

     •  El Salvador – Financial assistance to diocesan missions in El Salvador, currently on

        an individual basis; previously through the North Coast League.

 

Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, Cleveland

     •  El Salvador – A delegation of students and teachers visits El Salvador. (Plain Dealer article)
