     Trade & Social Justice Awareness-raisers!!

        Empower youth to promote fair trade & social responsibility while raising funds for activities!

   • “Going Global with Youth” Newsletter Sign up  (via CRS)

        Monthly e-newsletter for teachers and youth ministers providing ways to be further engaged

        in the work of Catholic Relief Services and with one another. It covers available resources,

        opportunities for involvement, and information on CRS' work in the field.

 

   • CRS Food Fast – additional justice education, discussion guide & DVD also available!

        ”Feeding the Hunger for Connection to the World through Faith-Filled Action!”  Food Fast is

        a CRS hunger awareness program (retreat/“lock-in” model) for Catholic youth (ages 13-18),

        focusing on global poverty, justice & faith to inspire youth to a life of faith and service

 

   • CRS “Solidarity with Africa” Educational Resources for High Schools

        Curriculum ideas and resources for social justice & global solidarity education, including

        links to Solidarity Retreat resources & HIV/AIDS education materials.

 

   • CRS Fair Trade Network – On-line Fair Trade Purchasing & Resource Offerings

        CRS’ on-line resource for fair trade purchasing, fair trade education & video/DVD resources,

        with real-life stories of the international small farmers & growers benefiting from fair trade.

 

   • “Called To Witness” Int’l Immersion Program for Youth Ministers  (via CRS)
        A program for parish and diocesan youth ministers providing first-hand experiences of the

        developing world, and resources to help raise global justice awareness among youth.

 

   • “Frontiers of Justice” International Immersions for Teachers”  (via CRS)
        A CRS program in collaboration with National Catholic Educational Association's Secondary

        Schools Department to provide high school teachers with first-hand experience of the

        developing world that will enhance their ministry to students.

 

   • “The School Connectivity in Southeast Europe and the U.S.” Project  (via CRS)
        Linking int’l schools with U.S. youth to engage in global solidarity relationships, to bring the

        world into the classroom and to incorporate experiential global learning into the curriculum.

        Students can learn about and from other cultures through this youth-to-youth interaction.

 

   • Divine Chocolate  (Fair-trade & child labor-free certified chocolate… with a great taste!)

        A nonprofit fair trade organization via SERRV International in partnership with CRS.  Serves

        as a fair trade school/youth group fundraiser and as a way to spread the word about the

        many benefits of Fair Trade.  Directly benefit low-income farmers in Ghana!

 

   • Work of Human Hands – Fair Trade Fundraising that makes a difference!  (via CRS)

        Parish/school fundraising program of CRS and SERRV reaches out to groups of low-income

        people around the world that are part of local cooperatives. Work of Human Hands pays the

        groups in advance at a fair price for their products.  The sale of these handmade items (from

        over 40 countries) helps provide dignity, hope & income to poor families around the globe.

        For up to date advocacy & education resources on the Darfur Genocide.  Includes photos

        and personal stories of refugees & displaced persons.

 

   • Invisible Children.com – witnessing to No. Uganda’s child human rights crisis

        Known as the worst human rights conflict receiving the least international attention, “Invisible

        Children”–the video captures the tragic reality & motivates youth/the public to action.

 

   • (Kids Can) Free The Children

        Free The Children is an international youth-led organization working to end child-labor.  The

        founder, Craig Kielberger, is a respected speaker and youth advocate.  Go on-line to quickly

        and easily register your youth group or school organization as a “Free the Children” chapter!

 

   • Equal Exchange  (Fair Trade-certified fundraising for your youth group or school!)

        Host a Fair Trade Youth Group Fundraiser at your church or school!  Equal Exchange

        promotes fair trade, sweatshop/child labor-free coffee & products for purchase directly

        from worker cooperatives in developing countries.
