Rite of Christian Initiation: The rite of becoming a full member of the Church. Call a Team Member.
Baptisms: Celebrated at the weekend Liturgies during the year and the last Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Parents are to attend a Baptism session. Contact the Parish Office.
Eucharistic Liturgy Schedule:
Reconciliation/Confession: Saturdays: 3:15-4:00 p.m.
Marriages: Couples MUST make arrangements at least 6 months BEFORE the Wedding and meet all Diocesan and Parish guide- lines. Call a Team Member.
Funerals: Arranged by the family through the Funeral Director.
Memorial: Remember your loved ones with a contribution to the Memorial Fund and the Parish in your will. Contact a team Member.
Registration and Census: Takes place in the Parish Office.

CELEBRATING |
|
WORSHIP COMMISSION Assists the Parish Pastoral Council by developing pastoral plans and policies in the area of worship. Seeks ways to call the Parish community to be a worshiping community centered in the mystery of the risen Christ, and encourages parishioners to be committed to grow in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church. LITURGICAL MINISTRIES Liturgy of the Word with Children Fully initiated adults to assist in breaking open the Word of God and sharing it with children at the 9:30 and 11:30am Liturgy. Eucharistic Ministers Serves the community in the distribution of communion and, on occasion taking communion to the sick. Fully initiated individuals who are seniors in high school or older. Diocesan training required. Training sessions in fall and spring. Liturgical Greeters Help set the tone for what takes place in church by welcoming the Assembly and performing other tasks that may occasional during a celebration. Hospitality Ministers Host socials and receptions after weekend liturgies and other special occasions. I Liturgical Coordinators Adults responsible to oversee the immediate preparations prior to weekend liturgies. Coordinators are needed for each of the weekend masses. Can share this task on a rotating schedule with other coordinators. Lectors Serves the community through the proclamation of scripture. Must be willing to take the time to prayerfully prepare prior to the celebration. Training and ongoing formation are required. Liturgical Movement and Dance Enhances the worship experience of the community through prayerful movement and interpretation of songs or readings, processions, and dance in a liturgical setting. Audition, training, and rehearsals are required. Servers Assists the Presider at liturgical celebrations. Training is required. Fifth grade through adult - male and female. Funeral Servers Assists the Presider at funeral liturgies. Training is required. Adults - male and female. Ushers Assists in seating of worshipers, taking up collections, straightening -up at the conclusion of Mass, and on occasion performing other tasks. MUSIC MINISTRY Choir Provides support and leadership in music for worship. Adds to the artistic quality of the music at weekend liturgical celebrations and other events throughout the year. Meeting with the Liturgy Director is required. Cantors Leads and support the assembly in the responsorial psalm and litanies of the church at liturgical celebrations as needed. Selection of cantors is made by audition. Membership in the choir is expected. Handbell Choir The handbell choir serves the community at liturgical celebrations as planned. Morning Glories Provides the assembly with support and leadership in music for worship at funerals. Everyone is invited. Musicians Supports the choir and assembly and enriches the artistic quality of the music for worship. Auditions are required. ART AND ENVIRONMENT Art & Environment Committee Assists in preparing and readying the church for seasonal celebrations. Meetings prior to special events and seasons to plan the environment, and, working with others to implement the plans. Church Cleaning Assists in keeping the church clean. Rotating teams of 2 or 3 people clean weekly. A fall and spring cleaning may require all teams. There are no scheduled meetings and no special training is needed. Plant Care Care for the plants in the gathering area and the Church. Time commitment varies. Knowledge of very basic elements of plant care required. Sacristans Adults needed to supervise church cleaning teams. Duties include laundry of church linens. Taking vestments to dry cleaners. Dusting the altar, ambo, and organ. Changing candles and brass candle followers. Inventory and ordering of liturgical supplies, i.e. candles and incense. Cleaning and polishing liturgical vessels. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION Baptism Preparation Assists in preparing expecting couples to understand the basic theology of the sacrament and realize the responsibilities that come w" the baptism of their child. Couple to Couple Ministry Assists in preparing engaged couples for their life together on a one-to-one basis. Interview with the Deacon and his spouse and training is provided. |

CARING |
|
HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESOURCES COMMISSION Assists the Parish Pastoral Council by developing pastoral plans and policies in the areas of Christian service and social action. Serves to raise the consciousness of the parish community concerning the social mission of the church. Helps create an awareness of Gospel values that reflect justice. Through shared study, discussion, and prayer, members grow spiritually and explore and promote ways to respond to justice issues. HEALTH AND AGING Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound Eucharistic Ministers who focus their ministry by taking communion to the homebound and elderly during regular visits. Parish Nurse Program/Wellness Committee Trained nurses take part in screening parishioners for high blood pressure, and other activities and individuals who promote the health care activities of the parish. MINISTRY Bereavement Ministry Support group and programs which aid and comfort those in sorrow. Stephen Ministry Assists to provide confidential support and care to individuals who are hospitalized, terminally ill, bereaved, experiencing a job or spiritual crisis, new members of the church, disabled, homebound, lonely, or need a caring, Christian friend. Stephen ministers are selected, trained, and supervised. Ministers must commit to 50 hours of training and participate in biweekly support sessions. RESOURCES St. Vincent de Paul Society Assists in providing person-to-person contact with individuals and families to assist with physical needs. Assists in preparation of food baskets and the maintenance of the parish food pantry. Requires compassion, confidentiality, and respect for the dignity of all people. Advent Giving Tree Assist in putting together the annual Advent Giving tree by collecting and distributing gifts. Salvation Army Contact Audrey Spence at (XXX) XXX-XXXX. |

TEACHING |

EDUCATION COMMISSION Assists the Parish Pastoral Council by developing pastoral plans and policies in the area of education. Deals with the concerns related to lifelong learning as it is needed and experienced by all parishioners: children, teens, and adults. PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION Parish School of Religion (PSR) Trained volunteer teachers provide quality religious education for children (grades 1-8) attending public schools. Children are formed in the Gospel message by experiencing community and liturgical celebrations, and are motivated to show concern for others. Sacramental Formation Programs (Confirmation, First Communion, Reconciliation) Assist the Sacramental Coordinator in facilitating formation programs. Sunday Religion Pre-School Program Trained volunteers provide children ages 3-5 with a program of faith formation. Held during the 10:30 Sunday Mass from fall to spring. DAY SCHOOL St. Mary Magdalene Parish School Assists and cooperates with parents in the total Catholic education and faith formation of their children. Parish Day School Volunteers Contact school office for details. Parent Association Promotes cooperation and relationship among parents, students, and faculty of St. Mary Magdalene Parish School. Development Committee Assists the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Council in promoting the day school in a positive manner to the parish and surrounding communities. |

EVANGELIZING |

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT AND EVANGELIZATION COMMISSION Assists the Parish Pastoral Council by developing pastoral plans, policies and religious experiences in the area of spiritual growth and development. Coordinates activities with other commissions that relate to the spiritual nourishment and development of the parish community Fosters adult education, evangelization, renewal programs, scripture study, ecumenism, days of prayer and recollection, and promotes the on- going conversion, reconciliation, and responsibility of the community as Catholic Christians. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION RCIA Team Team members are fully-initiated Catholics willing to share their faith with others. Previous RCIA experience required. Training is provided. RCIA Sponsor Sponsors are fully initiated Catholics who assist individual candidates through prayer and support as they journey toward initiation. RCIC Team Team members are fully-initiated Catholics willing to share their faith with clul&en. SPIRITUAL GROWTH ACTIVITIES Little Rock Scripture Study A guided scripture study program which consists of daily personal study, weekly discussion, and faith-sharing in small groups. Facilitators must be willing to spend some time in daily prayer and reading and be "ling to share God's word with fellow parishioners. Welcoming Committee Provides a warm welcome to new members of our parish and works to create an atmosphere of hospitality at parish events. Youth Ministry Committee Adults and teens needed to study and assess opportunities for Youth Ministry. Youth Ministry Volunteers Adults needed to assist with youth related activities this school year. |

PARTICIPATING |

COUNCILS AND COMMITTEES PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL Members of this council assist the Pastoral Team as a consultative body whose primary function is to lead the parish in its faith journey through leadership, service, and planning. Recommends to the Pastoral Team a plan for the development or renewal of the ministries and life of the parish. Members are selected through an annual discernment process. Stewardship Coordinating Committee Assists in research, preparation, and distribution of information which furthers the parish's experience of time, Went and treasure. Stewardship means recognizing and being grateful for gifts and being responsible for these gifts. Parish Life Committee coordinate kitchen efforts for the Fish Fry and other parish events. Church in the City This committee works toward the implementation of Bishop Pilla's Pastoral Letter, "Church in the City." Church in the City's primary purpose is the process of establishing relationships among people of the Diocese of Cleveland for the purpose of mutual support and conversion. Habitat for Humanity This committee will direct the funding and construction of affordable housing for Habitat Lake County. Our parish is sponsoring a home in Painesville. FINANCE COUNCIL Members of this council assist the Pastoral Team as a consultative body in the areas of finance, investment, budgets, and capitol improvements. This council works in tandem with the Parish Pastoral Council. Membership requires the valued expertise of banking, accounting, finance, marketing, law, administration, and above all, a dedication to the mission of the Church. Money Counters Rotating teams of volunteers assist in counting the weekend collection and special collections in accordance with the general operating procedures of the Diocese of Cleveland. Maintenance Committee Assists the Finance Council in development of capitol improvement plans for all parish properties. Membership requires the expertise of engineering, plumbing and electrical, heating and cooling, and buildings and grounds. FUND-RAISING Bingo Staffed entirely by volunteers who commit to working a regularly scheduled Wednesday evening. Jobs include: callers, sellers, bankers, concessions, admissions, and runners. Bingo operates under the strict guidelines of Charitable Organizations of the State of Ohio as well as guidelines of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Internal Control of Bingo. Festival Committee Members needed to serve on sub-committees: Food, Refreshments, Entertainment, Site, Security, Finance, Maintenance, Publicity, Monte Carlo, Raffles, Kids' Tent, and Community Spirit. Christmas Tree Sale Volunteers needed to help sell Christmas Trees during the season of Advent. PARISH ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMITTEES FOR SERVICE TO ADULTS New Friendship Club A social group for widows and widowers looking to make new friends and share their lives. This group provides moral support and a new beginning after the loss of a loved one. Ladies' Guild An organization of women of the parish which helps to purchase items for the Church through two annual fund-raises and membership dues. Holy Name Society Assists to promote respect for Jesus Christ and the reverent use of His name through personal example, actively living out the Catholic faith, and by encouraging participation in activities which focus attention on respect for Jesus. Supports other parish organizations with financial backing and/or presence for special events or programs. Open to all men of the parish over IS years of age. Knights of Columbus Assists to promote Christian fancily values in the home and workplace. Sponsors events and fund-raises to aid the Catholic Christian community. Open to all Catholic men over 21 years of age. PARIS1SH ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMITTEES FOR SERVICE TO CHILDREN Athletic Association (CYO) Assists in promoting and supervising all athletic programs in the parish and to obtain and train all volunteer coaches for these programs. A wide variety of activities are offered to all boys and girls of the parish including: baseball, softball, basketball, football, cheerleading, volleyball, and track. New coaches and assistants are always needed and welcome. Coaching requires a large in-season time commitment. Scouting Assists in promoting leadership, self-reliance, citizenship, sportsmanship, community-building, a sense of personal achievement, care and concern for others and the environment, and the development of character through a variety of fun and exciting activities. Members and parental involvement is needed for Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. |
