The Worship Commission - Assists the Parish Pastoral Council by developing pastoral plans and policies in the area of worship. Seeks ways to call the Parish community to be a worshiping community centered in the mystery of the risen Christ, and encourages parishioners to be committed to grow in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church.

 

St Mary Magdalene Worship Commission Meeting Minutes of Monday December 10th, 2001 Present: Father John Singler, Darlene Bednarz, Susanne Sande, Matt Thornicroft, Ron Visnyonis, Tim Spahlinger, Excused: Diane Mayer, Anne Curry-Smith, Mary Ellen Toomey, Dot Heister, Kathy Sull, Liz Annondono Growth and Learning: Book of Readings on the Eucharist Discussion on Chapter 3. Theology of the Eucharist. Discussion Items: Changing 6:30 am daily Mass Mt. Carmel and St. Williams has a 7am for those wishing earlier. We will look at what other area parishes offer in light of Vibrant Parish Life. A change would be undoing the routine of many that "like" the 6:30 am parish. We need to continue to study this. Susanne will check the times of the area parish. Advent liturgy/worshiping Well and Wisely. The video was watched through the Liturgy of the Word for the principles involved. Environment was set as soon as you walked in the door with incense, advent wreath, colors, and advent giving tree. No sign of hospitality in gathering area. Gathering rite with full, active participation was there a procession of God’s Holy People and was it prayerful - was it about the individuals, about the season? Use of silence - The Role of the Servers - Did they come in reverently? The Role of the Lector - She was well prepared, did not distract from the reading but added to it. We could tell that she knows God through her reading. The word is being lived by the proclaimer. The Role of the Cantor - Lacking in animation, but does the assemblies feel satisfied with what is being offered? Is this enough? Are we to settle or challenge our ministers to strive for more? The Role of the Presider - Reporting Items OCP Grant: We received a letter that our application was received and they will let us know who receives the grants. Deacon Carl is pursuing the program "Alpha" an evangelizing program. This might be part of our Lenten Program. Items for the next agenda Read book Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy. For Discussion A report of area parishes who have morning liturgies. Advent Liturgy + finish viewing and discussing liturgy.
