CERTIFICATES THEYRE NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS
Many people used our certificate program to buy gifts for Christmas. We thank all of you for your support. Dont forget, certificates are good all year roundfor any gift-giving occasionor to use for yourself. A restaurant certificate makes a great anniversary gift. Dont know what kind of food someone would likeno problem. We now have a single gift certificate that works at many restaurants or other entertainment facilites. The same certificate works at the Winking Lizard or Swingos; Coopers Town or The Watermark; Blazin Bills or Lion & Lamb. Ask our certificate sellers to show you the list of restaurants, or go on line at www.simplycertificates.com. We also now have Cracker Barrel.

FROM THE PASTOR
Dear brothers and sisters,
What a wonderful experience the Vibrant Parish Life mission was this past Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The VPL committee and team did a great planning job. They involved many segments of our parish, from our school children to our seniors, our teens and our families. Not only from parish, but people came from St. Wenceslas, St. Pius X, St. Mary and Holy Trinity, along with the inspiring presenters, Fr. Clyde Foster and Fr. Tom Mahoney. We learned that Jesus calls us to be church together as we bring forward our gifts to help form the body of Christ. We saw how the Eucharist nourishes to help us become like Christ. And, vibrantly filled with the Body and Blood of Christ, we take our place in the Mission of the Lord by proclaiming the Good News of salvation to all.
Thats a huge task. What we really can do is to try to do our share. Thats what happened so wonderfully this week. All the hard work resulted in a beautiful spiritual experience. Thanks to the committee and team and to all who participated, in any way, in the VPL mission.
This is not the end of the VPL project; we are on a journey to revitalize our parish. Over one hundred thirty people gathered on each of the nights. Calling upon the Holy Spirit to help us be a more vibrant parish means that we constantly seek ways, proven and new ways, to reach out to all our members, active and inactive alike. We have taken a step, an important step, in a process. There is much more to come. It has meaning as long as it embraces the mission of Jesus, which was to lift up all humanity in love on the cross.
May all we do be filled with the love of Jesus found within each one of us and within our neighbors.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Jamie

SCHEDULING NOTEEASTER WEEK
There will be no daily masses during Easter week, Monday-Friday, April 21-25. We will, however, have a communion service each morning at 7:30. The mass intentions will be rescheduled.
PRIVACY ACT BEGINS APRIL 11
It will be much harder for priests, deacons, or pastoral ministers to visit parishioners in hospitals or nursing homes. You will need to ask for us by name, or at least by parish, for us to have the legal right to visit the sick.. A new Privacy Act goes into effect on April 11, 2003. It is very likely that we will be unable to visit our folks unless we hear a request directly from you. Well keep you posted on this.
COMMUNAL PENANCE ON MONDAY
Our annual communal penance service for Lent will be Monday, April 7, at 7:00 pm in the church. We will have six priests available for the sacrament of Reconciliation, which will be received in a processional format.
BULLETIN INSERTS BY BISHOP ANTHONY PILLA
ON VIBRANT PARISH LIFE
"While no single parish can afford an individual minister for each of these needs, parishes can cooperate to assure that someone coordinates them, knows how to evaluate the best of such groups and where they are available, and can assess the religious values that ground them.
"Collaboration includes sharing in the same district or neighborhood, and goes beyond to invite partnerships between parishes with different cultural roots.
"As I look to the future, I recognize that each parish has its own history, one that gives birth to its particular characteristics. Our richness and diversity are a treasure to be preserved."
FR. MATT ASKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS
Fr. Matt, or more formallyRev/Chaplain 1st Lieutenant Matthew Glaros, phoned the rectory last Friday from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was good to hear his voice. He lives in a small house on the base, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. He asks for your prayers. He is working hard, being the only Catholic priest on a team with eleven other chaplains (one of which is a Muslim Imam). Fr. Matt serves mostly airmen and technical skilled servicemen who are involved in basic training. He has about three hundred people, in total, who come to the two Sunday masses he has. However, he says that there are several thousand Catholics among the ten thousand people on the base. He is safe and does not expect to be transferred from Keesler at any time soon.
You may write him at: CH.1LT Matthew Glaros, 303 Harmon Circle, Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Ms, 39531.
Or, if you wish, his e-mail address is: Revglaros@yahoo.com.

HEALING HUMOR
What possible excuse can you give for acquitting this defendant?" the judge shouted at the jury.
"Insanity, Your Honor," replied the foreman.
"All twelve of you?"
(from READERS DIGEST LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE, 1997)
To some, it would seem as if the twelve apostles were insane for following Jesus. Yet, from that tiny band of believers the seeds of faith produced great fruit. What was true then is still true. We are most fruitful when we die to self, go nuts over the Lord, and let his Spirit take over our lives.
RCIA NEWS:
This Sunday marks the last of the "Scrutinies," the "Third Scrutiny." During this Rite, we are offered in the readings an opportunity to scrutinize ourselves on the experience of new life. We are assured by our faith and by the teachings of the Gospel, that, as soon as we believe, we begin to live forever. The Gospel reading also demonstrates to us a very human Jesus one who, moved in spirit and troubled, grieves over the loss of His friend. Please keep Rachael Braxton and Diane Nicole Maslowski in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey.
FIRST COMMUNION:
A couple of important people were omitted from the list of volunteers who helped with the Holy Family Retreat last weekend. Our music director, Jason Falkofsky, got the day "jump started" in a session where he practiced several uplifting selections with the children. Father Jamie conducted tours of our church. Mary Anne Schiavoni came in early to help with the breakfast set up. Thanks so much.
Practice for the Group First Communion is scheduled for April 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the school.
The group First Communion is planned for Sunday, May 4th at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Seating for the Communion Celebration may be limited. Parishioners, accustomed to attending the11:00 a.m. Liturgy who do not have family members in the First Communion group may wish to attend a different Mass that weekend.
PSR INFORMATION
