FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING WEEKLY SCRIPTURE
The Lord Jesus is our shepherd. At the end, at his coming, he will hand over the kingdom to his Father. He will "judge between one sheep and another, between rams and goats", between those who have lived their lives for others, and for those who lived for themselves.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
To whom much is given, much is expected. In todays gospel Jesus tells us that we must share our abundance with "the least" the stranger, the prisoner, the hungry and the homeless. As we gather to give thanks this week we must also ask ourselves how well we share with "the least". Happiness is secured not by having but by sharing.

FROM THE PASTOR
Dear SMT parishioners,
With Thanksgiving Day only a few days away, I want to thank you for your love, concern and support for our parish. These are trying times in which we live. The challenges within the Church and in our parish are not going to be resolved in a quick or easy fashion. What the Holy Spirit evokes from us is what the Spirit has already given us, namely, hope. I find many reasons to have hope. The witness of many couples in our parish and in our community, couples faithfully living out their sacrament despite severe hardships, gives me hope. The sacrifice of parents sending their children to Catholic day school, high school or college, gives me hope. The involvement of our young people in areas of service gives me hope. The sick who suffer so gracefully give me hope.
The faith practice of many who worship the Lord at Mass and around the clock in our adoration chapel give me hope. The generosity of SMT brothers and sisters with their money and material goods gives me hope. Your words of encouragement and understanding give me hope. These and so many others ways make hope real for me and for that I thank you. I thank you for being with me as the parish of Saint Martin of Tours. We need each other and need the Holy Spirit of God to hope for the best.
May the God who fulfills all our longings fill you with the spirit of hope, which leads to thanksgiving all your days. Give thanks to God for bounteous blessings this Thanksgiving. Give thanks in word and in work.
I hope to see you all at the parish pasta dinner.
Hopefully yours,
Fr. Jamie

VIBRANT PARISH LIFE (VPL) MEETING
Ed Francis has consented to join with Ted Bizon as co-chairpersons for the VPL committee. Thanks to Fr. Matt for his assistance with the group to this point. The committee decided this past week to use a survey method as its primary means to do a parish self-study. However, we will combine the survey with two other methods called historicizing and the town hall meeting to draw from our parishioners information, values, hopes, concerns and dreams. This will assist in planning both within our parish and with our neighboring parishes.
VIBRANT PARISH LIFE
(OVERVIEWCONTINUED)
Bishop Pilla writes of his convictions in the Vibrant Parish Life document:
"My second conviction is one of deep respect for, and reliance upon, the leadership of those closest to each situation. I hold in inestimable value the local community, its gifts, traditions, ethnicity and needs. This respect mandates that any process involve initiative at the local community level. I do not believe that true parish life can be imposed from an outside authority. I am convinced that it must be discerned in faith and be embraced voluntarily with the heart.
"My third conviction is that the priests, deacons, religious and lay ecclesial ministers serving the parishes of our Diocese must be respected and that their faithful cooperation is essential. The mission of Christ in this Diocese cannot be accomplished, nor can the challenges of growth and decline be remedied, without the initiative and cooperation of these men and women in leadership."
