TODAY’S GOSPEL

Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes'? Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit." - Mt. 21:42-43

FAMILY PERSPECTIVES

The king in today’s gospel entrusted his land to the tenants.  They did not own the land but acted like they could do whatever they wanted with it.  Children are entrusted to us.  We do not own them.  They belong to the Lord.  How would he judge our parenting efforts?

Please remember that we have changed our name to Nativity “CARES” as of October 1.  We will be doing the same charitable work with the help of our parish’s generosity.  As of July, 2008, we have assisted with food distribution, money for hot meals and meat products.   Twenty-two vouchers were given to help the needy with food and we also helped families with special needs in our parish.  Thank you for your generosity.

CARE FOR THE CAREGIVER

Are you caring for a loved one and beginning to feel burned out?  Are you helping to care for a friend and finding yourself overwhelmed by the stress?  A workshop for caregivers to learn how to better care for themselves while caring for their loved ones is being offered by the Department for Marriage and Family Ministry and the Office for Women in Church and Society.  Care for the Caregiver Stress Reduction for Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake.  You may pick up a registration form at Nativity parish office during the week.

Fall Luncheon Card Party, sponsored by the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Vincent de Paul Church, 42295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, will be held on October 9, at 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..  Call 324-4428 for further information.  Tickets will be sold at the door.
