Thank you very much for your prayers for my
uncle Jim, his funeral was held last Friday. Several Masses
have been scheduled for him and my family over the next
months. Also a good report from my doctor last Thursday.
However, he wants me to lose weight.
How is your Lent going? I continue to read Signs of Life by
Scott Hahn and bm best friend is reading The Purpose Driven
Life by Rich Warren, and after some discussion, I’m
re-reading this spiritual classic. I still recommend these
two books for something in addition to scripture reading
during these holy days.
Just a reminder that there are Stations of the Cross on
Wednesday evenings after the 6:30 p.m. Mass. Also our Lenten
Mission begins this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. with Sr. Joan. There
will be security in the neighborhood and if you can be here
for 1,2, or all 3 nights, I’m sure you will find the
presentations rewarding. Also, there is another fabulous
fish fry scheduled on Friday, March 26. Don’t forget to get
your tickets.
This Sunday, I will be participating in the closing liturgy
at St. Joseph’s with Bishop Lennon. We pray for the
parishioners who will be grieving and then moving on to
other parishes. St. Joseph’s has a great history and very
giving parishioners. This weekend will also see the merging
of St. John’s, St. Vitus, and Ss. Cyril and Methodius to
become the new. St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. We pray for all
those involved too.
I don’t think any of us will regret that February is over—6
snow storms!! Can’t believe that it hasn’t snowed for 2 days
and I can actually see sunshine here and there. The March
calendar included many great saints of God including
Patrick, Joseph, and Casimir. A little side note—my cats
will be 12 years old on March 17. They still make me laugh
and remind me of God’s creation.
A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart
bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself
in the care of nuns at the Cabrini Catholic Hospital. As he
was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how he
was going to pay for his treatment.
She asked if he had health insurance.
He replied, in a raspy voice, “No health insurance.”
The nun asked if he had any money in the bank.
He replied, “No money in the bank.”
The nun asked, “Do you have a relative who could help you?”
He said, “I only have a spinster sister, who is a nun.”
The nun became agitated and announced loudly,
“Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God.”
The patient replied……
“Then send the bill to my Brother-In-Law.”
With Him and His Mom,
