At a former PTU meeting, we had a demonstration of how teachers are using the Smart Boards in their classrooms. Parents were interested in accessing some of the websites that were recommended. PTU meetings are scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of the month, at 7:30 p.m., in Linus Hall Cafeteria (except the December meeting).

Our school has participated in the Accelerated Reader program for many years. Students receive a list of titles from which they can choose books to read. (These books include classics, mystery books, sports stories, books on famous people, books on different cultures, science and social studies topics, etc.) Students then test themselves on the books they have read on the computer in their classroom. Each teacher sets her own reading requirements for the classroom. PTU has very generously helped promote this program by donating money for sets of books from the Accelerated Reader lists, and for computer tests on these books. Students in grade 3 receive their Accelerated Reader book list, and are asked to keep it throughout their years at OLA.
We are now able to send you a copy of this list through e-mail so that you can download it to your computer and rearrange the list according to title, author, reading level, etc. The list has been created in the Excel spreadsheet program. If you have a copy of Excel or Microsoft Office on your computer, you will be able to open this file. Send me an e-mail request by clicking on the icon below.
