| Park
Goist is originally from Seattle, where
he attended public schools and graduated from the University of Washington.
He earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of Rochester, then taught
at Colgate, Kent State and Case Western Reserve University. At CWRU he
served as department chair, directed the American Studies Program and taught
in the Department of Theater Arts. |
His publications
include The Urban Vision,
From Main Street To State Street
and numerous articles on urban culture and American literature. Park began
writing plays while at CWRU and recently left the university to focus on
his writing and other theater related activities.
He is co-founder
of the StageWrites Collective, devoted to staged readings of new plays,
serves on the board of trustees of Ensemble Theatre, a small professional
Cleveland theater, and is a former member of the Playwrights' Unit at the
Cleveland Play House.
Park is a frequent
post-show speaker at area theaters, a featured guest on local radio programs
and has done dramaturgical work for the Cleveland Play House, the Great
Lakes Theater Festival and the Playhouse Square Center. He is also the
recipient of the prestigious Award of Achievement from Northern Ohio Live
Magazine for Popular Music. Park has had plays produced in Cleveland, Zimbabwe,
Africa and New York City and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. |
