Secular Franciscan Order

"Francis, Rebuild My Church."

After there were thousands in the Three Franciscan Orders, a person asked St. Francis, "Why did God choose you?" St. Francis in all  humility said that God looked around for the most unworthy person so that that person could have not any claim on the work that God was performing through him.

Did I say Three Orders? Yes, we all know of the First Order is for the Priests and Brothers. The Second Order is for the Religious Nuns founded by St. Clare also prompted by the Spirit and through the guidance of St. Francis. However, when the laity came to St. Francis for help, he established The Third Order for them. It is now called the Secular Franciscan Order. Over Eight centuries these three orders have blossomed into many offshoots. All are striving to fulfill that special charism that Our Lord entrusted to St. Francis, Metanoia, or a total conversion to Our Lord. There are several SFO Chapters in the Cleveland area. One of these has its headquarters at St. Paul's Shrine at 40th and Euclid. If anyone interested in the SFO's, we usually meet at on the 4th Sunday of each month at 8:00 AM for morning prayer, a meeting follows and then Mass follows at 10:00 A.M.. You might want to stop by and see how it works. You could also send email to:

To summarize our position, SFO's are trying to follow the ideal of St. Francis which was to have the lay people return to the Gospel message of Our Lord . We are in the world but we are trying to follow the narrow road and do what Jesus said and not follow the world's standards. Turn away from the world and back to Jesus.

Also Remember to include Dan & Teddy Havel  in

The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration

invite you to celebrate with them their
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION.

Isn't it true that only a priest can tell Almighty God to
come down upon the altar and Jesus obediently listens, not
because of weakness but out of His tremendous love for
us, knowing full well that He is throwing Himself open to
possible abuse, ingratitude, etc.?

At Communion
we receive Jesus,
Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,
Creator, Redeemer and
Sanctifier of the universe!
