"Behold, I am with you
all days, even to the comsummation of the world."
Last Chapter of St. Matthew's Gospel.
In Lanciano, Chieti, Italy about 1,300 years ago, one of the
most thoroughly documented miracles took place. Then a monk of the order
of St. Basil had been struggling with doubts about Christ's Presence in
the Eucharist. He experienced that Presence firsthand as he raised the
Host during Consecration. The bread turned into a circle of flesh surrounding
a small area in the center where the Host retained its earthly properties.
At the same time, the wine clotted into 5 pieces of different sizes.
(After 1300 years, The Host tests out as h u m a n
heart muscle
while the B l o o d tests out as fresh AB type blood.)
Isn't it true that only a priest can tell Almighty God to
come down upon the altar and Jesus obediently listens, not
because of weakness but out of His tremendous love for
us, knowing full well that He is throwing Himself open to
possible abuse, ingratitude, etc.?
At Communion we receive Jesus,
Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,
Creator, Redeemer and
Sanctifier of the universe!
