GYM UNIFORMS
  1. Tennis shoes with white soles - black soles do leave marks on the gym floor
  2. PLAIN blue, black or gray shorts or sweat pants. There may be no writing, emblems,  advertising, swooshes.... on the shorts. A thin white stripe down the side is acceptable.
  3. The designated St. Mary Magdalene - St. Justin Martyr School gym shirt.
  4. STUDENTS WITHOUT GYM SHOES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE FOR THE DAY.
Students in grades 4-8..... 
We begin the school year with Soccer. The students in Grades 6-8 will practice skills, play matches and complete skills tests.  Grades 4-5 participate in skill building activities, play lead up games, and Sideline Soccer games. The quarter ends with Physical Fitness activities, Lacrosse for the 8th graders, and Flag Football for grade 7.
      Quarter II begins with lead up Volleyball games for grades 4 and 5. Grades 6 through 8 participate in a Volleyball Tournament. Other activities included in this quarter are Christmas Shopping and Floor Hockey.
     Quarter III brings one of our favorite units.....BASKETBALL!! Students play a variety of leadup games, including Basketball Elimination. The junior high gets an opportunity to play some 3 on 3 games. After basketball we move on to Dance units. Grades 4 and 5 perfect their Square Dancing, and grades 6 through 8 experience country Line Dancing, and a little bit of Ballroom.
     We finish the school year with a variety of games and activities, including Handball, Kickball, Juggling, Bowling, Chinese Jump Rope, and Fitness Stations.
Students in grades K-3.....
We begin the year with some very basic manipulation and foot skills work. We use a variety of equipment, music, and movement patterns to improve fitness, and learn more about physical education. Students work individually, with partners, and in small groups to practice, practice, practice!
     As the year progresses, we begin to play some favorite games - including Fish and Whales, The Bean Bag Game, Batman and Robin, Great Wall of China, Color Tag, Blue and White, Wall Ball... many more!!!
     We also begin to develop sport specific skills in grade 3, beginning with Sideline Soccer, and moving on to Newcomb (Volleyball lead up game), Modified Floor Hockey, and Basketball Numbers.
     A favorite event for the primary grades is the Thanksgiving Thank You Program. Each classroom develops and practices a special physical activity routine. They love to present their activity to the student body, teachers, parents, and special guests. They do a GREAT job!
