Hemlock Creek Campout November 14-14, 2009

It was a beautiful fall day with a lot of leaves to rake in Broadview Heights. Troop 810 was joined by Pack 652 and we split into 3 teams for raking the yards of the elderly in our community. After raking yards we all met up at Rt. 82 and State Rd and ate lunch.

At Hemlock Creek that evening, Troop 810 was joined by Webelos from Pack 810 from Assumption and Pack 652 from St. Basil. We had lots of free time and we played many games like ultimate frisbee, football and capture the flag. We ate hotdogs and Mr. Mayher's famous apple and peach cobbler. The Boy Scouts taught the Webelos skills on first aid and knot tying. Overall, we had a great time!

TRIP PLAN FOR YARD CHARGE AND HEMLOCK CREEK CAMPOUT
November 14-15, 2009

This weekend will feature two events. The Yard Charge Community Good Turn in Broadview Heights followed by an overnight campout at Hemlock Creek (off of Dunham Road across from Astrohurst Golf Course) in Brecksville Reservation. Here are the details....

Date and Time of Departure: Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 8am at the Old Church

Purpose: To perform service hours to the community and get advancement requirements completed. Rake yards for the elderly members of our community.

Location: Broadview Ht., Ohio

Cost: $0 and permission slip due at troop meeting on November 3rd

Estimated Time of Return: Saturday, November 14th, 1pm – Old Church

Uniform: Class "B" uniform, Troop T-shirt, for wear during the day on Saturday (weather permitting).

Items to Bring: RAKES- LEAF BLOWERS- GLOVES- WATER - Dress for the weather

Hemlock Creek, Brecksville Reservation Campout

Date and Time of Departure: Saturday, November 14, 2009 after return from Yard Charge

Purpose: Work on rank advancement and get more camping nights for camping merit badge. We will also meet some of the Webelos who are considering joining our Troop in a few months. The trees are beautiful this time of year and the camp ground is nestled between a peaceful stream leading to Tinker's Creek and a great climbing hill on the other side. A great time will be had by all!

Location: Hemlock Creek, Brecksville Reservation, Walton Hills, Ohio

Directions: 1. Broadview Rd south to Rt 82; East to I-77. Take I-77 south to Pleasant Valley Road, turn left until you reach Dunham Road (Pleasant Valley Road turns into Alexander Road). Make a left onto Dunham Road and take it all the way down the hill past Astrohurst Golf Course, go over the bridge (Tinker's Creek) and make a quick right onto Button Road before you go back up Dunham Road. Our campsite is at the clearing on the left hand side.

Cost for Troop members: $0 per Boy Scout attending Yard Charge. $5 per Boy Scout who did not attend Yard Charge. Due at November 3rd meeting with permission slip.

Cost for Webelos & Webelos parents: $5 due on November 14th with permission slip.

Estimated Time of Return: Sunday November 15th around 8:30am behind Old Church. Scout Mass is at 9am

  • Be prepared for rain & cooler weather!
